
On March 26, 2022, the association Sustainable Peace in Africa organized a debate entitled « The vectors of radicalism and violent extremism in Africa: a test for development and sustainable peace » at the ECOWAS room of CASEF in Lomé. This conference was attended by the ECOWAS Resident Representative, the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, the Ministry in charge of Human Rights, the Ministry in charge of Defense. According to the different profiles, teacher-researchers, researchers, defense and security forces, it was a question of taking stock of radicalism and violent extremism to allow the population of Lomé to identify the challenges of radicalism and violent extremism in order to mobilize to provide their support to the organs in charge of security and defense through their collaboration. The Laboratory of Research in Languages, Anglophone Literature Culture, and civilization known as LaReLLiCCA and the APDA thus participate in peace efforts through their status as a university research structure and civil society organization alongside the institutions of the Republic. For both structures and in terms of peace, only synergy of actions, social solidarity, collaboration and citizen engagement can help control the vectors of radicalization and violent extremism. The communication of the toll-free numbers to the participants by the experts of the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection committed the said participants to the citizen action sought to participate in efforts that can meet the challenges of national security
